Product Description

The Wetpak Oatmeal Stout is a true stout of distinction. Deep roasted malt, coffee and dark chocolate flavours and aromas combined with a creamy head, full body and a silky smooth finish on the palate makes this beer a real winner!

Wetpak Kits are formulated as extract brewing kits. They require a little more effort but the end result is definitely worth it. To make a Wetpak beer you will require:

  • Access to a stove or hot plate (one of those little butane gas powered camp stoves will work well).
  • A pot or saucepan that is large enough to hold 6 litres of liquid.
  • A spoon for stirring.
  • A sieve, colandar lined with butter muslin or a coffee plunger.
  • 1 hour of your time to monitor your brew while it simmers on the stove.

The Oatmeal Stout kit comes with:

  • 3kg of malt extract with the bittering hops already added.
  • a foil bag containing finishing hops.
  • a bag of finishing grain and oats.
  • Instructions (To view the detailed instructions that come with the kit, click "HERE".)
  • A sachet of  Fermentis' Safale S-04 yeast so brew this one between 12°C to 25°C (optimal range is 15°C to 20°C).

*** Note: Upon opening the can, you may see what looks like candied sugar or a green crust. Don't panic, it's just the fresh hops within the can that have come to the surface of the malt. They're supposed to be there! ***

  1. Possibly the tastiest brews I’ve ever made

Posted by Chris on 20th Apr 2021

I usually end up with a good brew with these wetpaks but this has just blown me away. Not too bitter, lovely subtle coffee and chocolate flavours, beautiful creamy head. It’s amazing. Just finished a keg worth and I’m off to buy another kit.

  2. Just missed top 10 in state comp with this kit

  3. Oatmeal stout. AWESOME.

Posted by Rob S. on 11th Jul 2012

Probably one of the best stouts I have ever tasted, all commercial and specialty varieties included. Smooth, with chocolate and coffee overtones; dark, slightly sweet without the bitter edge that many stouts have. Highly recommended.
